History Lecture and Weapon Selection

There were two continents in this world. Strictly speaking, this meant that no other continent had been confirmed. One was called the "Continent of Yggdrasil" and the other was called the "Continent of Irminsul". Among them, there were five countries on the Yggdrasil continent and two countries on the Irminsul continent.

The two continents were not far apart, but were connected by an Isthmus. It may be similar to the North and South American continents. However, the location of the two continents was not north-south like in the Americas, but east-west, which may give the impression that they were closer in terms of climate.

Before God used this world as a place to receive people from different worlds, this world was dominated by monsters. Nope. Perhaps the monsters were still the masters of this world.

On both continents, many lands were still the living area of monsters, and the living area of humans was not as large there. Therefore, it was not a safe place like the world we were in, and it was necessary to learn combat skills.

“The continent of Irminsul is a relatively newly settled continent, so it is recommended to go to the continent of Yggdrasil at first."

"Does this mean that Yggdrasil was originally the place where people lived?"

"Yes, the Envirion Cathedral, which houses the shrine of the transferees on the surface, is also located on the Yggdrasil continent. That was the place where it originally began."

I was sure I wasn't being asked for. I somehow guessed it from the way things had been going so far. Karimah must have sensed this, too, because he said soothingly.

“But I think Shigeto-sama will be approached as well. Not as an asset, but as someone with knowledge of another world. Especially since the information has been passed on that you are originally a teacher, there are always countries that are looking for people with knowledge."

Well, if all human beings involved were from different worlds, then there would be no movement to seek knowledge of those who had been transferred. That was true, if you considered it dispassionately. But how much knowledge would a high school teacher have that was required in this world, compared to a specialist or an engineer? The world was formed by people who had moved to this world from various other worlds, so the culture seemed to have developed to a certain extent. Because of the existence of magic, for example, civilization was established by combining science and technology of Earth with magic.

Considering the existence of the Sky Temple here, there must be technology such as airplanes. When asked about it, I was told that although there was such technology, it was not that common due to the dangerous existence of flying monsters.

This temple was built thousands of years ago by a group of spirits who collected shrines that had been created in various parts of the continent. It seemed that the shrines were created in pieces and people were suddenly thrown into the midst of monsters, which made me feel that the work was appropriate for a God.

The Sky Temple was connected to the lower world by a magic circle called the Teleportation Circle. I was worried about how to get down to the lower world, but as I am afraid of heights, it would be a great help to me if I could get there at once using magic. The destination of the teleport system was at the main temples located in each country of this world, and it seemed that when descending to the lower world, one could choose the nearest main temple.

However, even though humans were expanding their sphere of existence in this world, it was still a world of monsters. Among the main temples, some were said to be located in cities that were destroyed by a mass offensive of monsters known as a "Monster Parade".

"Shigeto-sama, what kind of weapon would you like?"

After eating lunch, I was taken to the armory. The transferees were offered one weapon before going down. They were taught how to fight with the weapon of their choice.

In the armory, there were a variety of weapons, some I had seen before, some I hadn't.

Naturally, as an Iaido practitioner, I would have preferred a Japanese sword,... but I didn't expect to find such a thing in this world.

“Is this ... a small sword?"

Still, as I looked around the room, thinking that even a single-edged sword would be enough, I saw a single small sword propped up on the floor. Looking around, there was a little open space around it. I wondered if there were other swords in the room.

"Ah, no. It's our world's weapon of choice, so it's only natural that they would choose it... I see, so a fellow countryman who has migrated into the past left this weapon in this world."

"Can I get one if I go down there?"

“Yes. Although the market price will go up a little."

"Is that so? May I take a look?"

"Go ahead, take it in your hand."

Karimah told me to pick up the small sword in my hand. Although it was small, the weight of the sword on my hand made it really feel like a sword. I put my thumb on the grip of the sword and lightly tap the tip of the weapon. The sword even has a guard attached. I quickly pulled out the blade and held it up in front of me.

I had been handling Japanese swords as a matter of course since I was young. I was a student of an unknown school with no students at all. That was why my grandfather, who honestly followed the old tradition, told me to always practice with a serious sword, and there was never a day when I didn't touch a sword until I left home to go to college.

After checking the blade for a while, I put it back in its scabbard. The feeling of putting it back in its scabbard was good. I pulled it out and put it back in the scabbard a few times. The running of the scabbard was also perfect.

I had also practiced with small swords.

Hmmm. If they would accept me in the frame of being an intellectual, I wouldn't have to fight, and weapons wouldn't be that important. That said. We are going to a strange land. If I have something familiar at my waist, even if it was a small sword, I would feel more at ease.
